MOON

9 out of 10, fantastic film, amazing performance by Sam Rockwell....I'd go so far as to say Oscar worthy!

Don't read too much about this film if you don't want to get spoiled, some reviewers have been saying far too much about the plot.

I saw Vampyr a few years ago, a very strange dreamlike film. It's almost an amateur film rather than professionally made. The lead actor provided most of the finance for the film. The film was initially made as a silent film, then sound was added.

Re Colonel Redl. This is part of a trilogy. The other 2 films are Mephisto which is available on DVD and Hanussen which is not available on DVD in the UK.

Breakdown (1997) 8/10 - if you liked Duel, you'll like this.

Butterfly on a Wheel - very good i thought.

Escapist (2008 with Brian Cox) 7.5/10.

A joint Irish/UK production about a prison escape, which is well acted and exciting. The structure may seem odd with scenes of the escape intercut with the events leading to the start of the escape, but don't let that put you off. Look out for it on Film 4.

Mr Nice Guy (1996) 5/10. A Jackie Chan film set in Australia - no where near as good as his Who Am I? (which although the story is absurd, the stunt work is outstanding).
